🔧1. Introduction of Pneumatic Cylinders

A pneumatic cylinder is a mechanical device that creates translational motion using energy from compressed air. In industrial dust filtration systems, cylinders play an important role in controlling the opening/closing of the filter chamber.

When selecting and ordering Pneumatic Cylinders, it is necessary to clarify the specification such as:

• Version: standard design and fabrication version profile barrel or tie-rod, equipted for magnetic possition detectors.
• Cylinder type, bore diameter and its stroke length.
• The magnetic position detectors must be ordered separatedly.

⚙️ 2. Working Principle of Pneumatic Cylinder

• Cylinders use compressed air to control the piston to move in single acting or double acting (extending and retracting).

The common function of a pneumatic cylinder is to open and close the filter chamber in a dust collector system that uses compressed air. Used in applications:

📐 4. Standards of Pneumatic Cylinders

• Safety & Quality Standards: CE, ISO, ATEX (Zone 20, 21, 22).

• Standards for pneumatic cylinders: VDMA 24562 (German technical standard for pneumatic cylinders) or ISO 6431, ISO 15552 (equivalent to VDMA 24562) – ensure flexible interchangeability between manufacturers, as well as standardization from design to installation and maintenance of machinery and equipment in pneumatic systems.

• Operating temperature: Depending on the operating environment, equipment manufacturers provide 3 series of heat-resistant cylinder products, equivalent to the following levels:

  • Typical: from -10°C to 70°C or wider range: from -20°C to 70°C.
  • High: up to 250°C.
  • Low: down to -40°C.

• Fluid: Air or neutral gas, filtered, lubricated or not. If a cylinder is required to use a dry compressed air without lubricant, the separate compressed air supply line for the cylinder must have a filter that removes moisture and oil vapor.

• Notes on safety for dust recovery systems: Industrial dust recovery systems operate in a gas-dust + pressure + high temperature environment, potentially a risk of fire and explosion, and are classified into 3 zones: Zone 20, 21, and 22 according to ATEX. Some areas of operation have a high risk of fire and explosion that require equipment to meet Ex standards (ATEX).

• Pneumatic Cylinder Size: The cylinder is a versatile equipment solution for a variety of industries. • High-quality materials: the whole product uses materials that are resistant to abrasion, corrosion, dust and water.
• The piston is constructed of high-strength, polished, chrome-coated stainless steel, increasing efficiency and long product life.
• The cylinder body is made from anodized aluminum with an abrasion-resistant coating.
• Galvanized steel bolts.
• Optional: there are many conventional or special options, most of which allow for the coordination of some of the following requirements:
  • Single-acting or double-acting cylinders.
  • Piston bore diameter and stroke length.
  • Equipped or not for magnetic position detector.
