1. What is polyester fabric? Origin and general characteristics

Polyester fabric is one of the most widely used artificial fibers in modern industry. From a technical perspective, polyester is a type of synthetic polymer primarily made from ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid – two compounds derived from petroleum. After the polycondensation process, they crystallize into fibers with high durability, resistance to deformation, and ability to withstand significant mechanical stress.

Polyester fabric was invented in the 1940s by British chemists. Due to its excellent elasticity, polyester withstands mechanical impacts in environments with continuous negative pressure from exhaust fans and automated dust cleaning using compressed air jets.
