Compressed Air Pulse-Jet Dust Collection System

Operating Principle.

Compressed air pulse-jet dust collection system

The air to be filtered is fed into the dust hopper and then passed through the fabric filter bags, moving from inside to outside or outside to inside, to enter the clean air manifold and exit the system. When a significant amount of dust accumulates on the inner or outer surface of the filter bags, the resistance increases, affecting filtration capacity. Regeneration is then performed using mechanical shaking or compressed air pulses. In mechanical shaking systems, dust is retained internally, whereas with high-pressure compressed air pulsing, the dust adhering to the exterior is dislodged and falls to the bottom.

Filtration efficiency can reach up to 99.8%, allowing the capture of even very fine particles thanks to the filter cake layer. After a period of time, the dust layer becomes too thick, causing excessive resistance across the filter medium; therefore, the exhaust gas flow must be stopped to remove the accumulated dust from the fabric surface. This process is known as regenerating filtration capacity.

Fabric filter dust collectors are typically installed downstream of mechanical dust collectors to capture fine particles that mechanical processes cannot retain. When coarse dust particles are completely separated, the amount of dust retained in the bags is reduced. Applications for the compressed air pulse-jet dust collection system include cement plants, incinerators, steel smelters, and grain grinding mills.
